Limiting Beliefs
Today I attended a Blueprint for Success workshop that helped me outline my vision, passion, and purpose. As I’m in a transitional period in my life, moving from college student to entering the adult world, there is a certain chaos that manifests from the experience. One of the key things we explored were limiting beliefs, or the bull shit story that we all tell ourselves for the reason we can’t.
Not Good Enough
No secret to those who know me, but I can be a perfectionist. So naturally I thought my ultimate limiting belief was not being good enough. That I am not talented enough to have what I want, or to take the things that I want. For myself, most things have come naturally and easily and although I might be good enough – I couldn’t be great.
Heather had me dig a little deeper…
Not Important Enough
So what stops us from ultimately being great? There is a different reason for all of us if you share the similar belief of not being good enough. For myself it was I’m not important enough. Realizing that thought was so emotionally evoking for me that I shed tears. It put into perspective for myself that all this time, I thought my ideas and thoughts weren’t important enough. Which in turn has had an effect, in my consistency writing this blog despite the feedback I have been receiving.
Growing up I was always a people pleaser. Although once I moved past the limiting belief of being accepted, this idea of not being important still hung around. I was willing to step out of the way for others, because I felt they were more important than I was.
Elimination
Today, I have eliminated that limiting belief. The ideas I have to share are important, and effective to help create an understanding on topics relating to one’s self perception, and the unheard perspective. Eliminating this belief helped me gain true confidence, knowing how I want to shape my future, and the value I can add to another’s life is empowering.
Although I’m sure it will change as I gain more experiences, let me share with you my purpose, passion and vision. My individual purpose has been shaped by the company I keep, my passion by the trail of my thoughts and actions, and my vision as a combination of the two.
Purpose: Through my confidence, I am passionate about working with determined individuals by supporting their aspirations and movement forward.
Passion: I love being a facilitator of success, and I enjoy informing and empowering myself and others.
My vision: Confidence, Determination, Peace: I see myself coaching others, and creating content to facilitate others success as a way to allow myself to travel, pay bills, and take care of my family.
My Take Away
This process was by no means easy, and still has improvement that can be made. What I do know, is that the focus I’ve gained will allow myself to not only reach these goals but surpass them.
So I urge you to take the time to ask yourself and truly dig deeper into what is limiting you from reaching your vision, and your full potential.
